My vampires used to be scary and murderous diseased humans. I don't know where I went wrong.

I imagine this guys being blind and having to hunt mortals with echo-location.
So he comes into the castle covered in blood and all the other vampires are like "Vhere'd you get all that? Ve vant blood too!"
So he sighs and he's like "Ok, follow me."
They shapeshift and take to the air, following the bloodied vampire. Eventually they came to a river, where the first vampire paused. "See that river?" he asked.
"Yes!" the others replied.
"Ok, keep following it." So they did, eventually the river brought them to a forest. "See that forest?"
"Yes!"
"Ok, head inside it." So they did, and finally the bloodied vampire stopped in front of a massive oak tree. The smell of blood in the air was strong and all the other vampires were getting excited when the first vampire goes "Ok, see that tree?"
"Yes! Yes!" the others chorused, starting to jostle each other for a chance to get closer to the scent of blood.
"Good," said the bloodied vampire, "Because I fucking didn't!"
